How to Reduce Glare

Now that you know the benefits of reducing glare, let us tell you that you don't necessarily need anti-glare lights. While anti-glare lights are the ideal solution, specific components can also make existing LEDs anti-glare. Let's take a look at them:

1. Anti-glare filters

You can apply anti-glare filters to existing LED fixtures to reduce glare. These filters minimize specular reflections and diffuse halos. In addition, some filters can reduce UV rays by up to 80%. What's the best part? These are probably the least expensive solutions for making any light source glare-proof.

2. Diffusers

As the name suggests, diffusers are translucent and semi-transparent glass covers. You can mount them above the light source to prevent glare. Diffusers reduce glare by spreading the light evenly around the area to reduce the intensity of the light. They are best used with LED light bars in spaces like offices and classrooms.

3. Dimmers

You know that high-intensity light creates glare, which means that lowering the intensity also reduces glare. Therefore, you can use dimmers to control the brightness of the lights so that they dim when they become too bright. You will have to replace the switch with a dimmer, but this does not require a large budget.

4. Adjusting Fixture Angles

It's easier to manage glare indoors than with outdoor lighting. In addition to intensity, angled points of light also produce glare. Therefore, adjusting the fixture to a right angle can solve the problem. Depending on the application, different areas of light have different ideal cutoff angles. If professional lighting requires an angle of less than 40 degrees, an office angle of less than 30 degrees, and general home lighting of less than 20 degrees, that would be best.

5. Appropriate color temperature

Color temperature determines not only the ambiance of the lighting but also the brightness. Anything above 6000K produces glare; therefore, we do not recommend using them in the home. The optimal color temperatures for indoor lighting are below 4000K, as their light is warm and does not produce glare. In addition, these color temperatures provide enough brightness to perform all tasks.

6. Lens caps

You will find several lens caps on the market. They control the distribution of light from the source and prevent glare. Prisms and polycarbonate lenses are two common examples of these lenses. Prisms have a hexagonal pattern that redirects the light and spreads it out evenly. These lenses are suitable for LED strips and LED panels. Polycarbonate lenses work similarly, but they are much more heat resistant. Therefore, you use these lenses on lights that require more watts.

7. Blinds

Blinds assemble LED lights in such a way that they can emit light even from fixtures. You can choose from a variety of options depending on the number and size of the LEDs. They range from small-hole plastic to large aluminum frames with parabolic fluorescent lamps - these work best in offices, classrooms, and indoor sports arenas.
